NOÉ

Our first world

The Kingdoms of the Mage Kings

In development

An open survival world with five kingdoms and a balloon to the sky.

A Minecraft Bedrock add-on and the world that comes with it. It is a normal survival world with five kingdoms built into it, four at the corners of the map and one in the clouds. You start in a castle whose gate never closes, learn a power at each altar, and reach the sky in a hot-air balloon you fuel and light yourself.

Where it stands

The Kingdoms of the Mage Kings is in development. It is not released. There is nothing to download, no price and no date.

The world is built and it passes our checks on the Bedrock Dedicated Server. Those are our own tests, not anyone's approval. What is left is the part no server can do. Noé plays it, and a place is finished when he says so.

How it plays

Open, all the way

Survival, day and night, weather, monsters after dark. You break, build, dig and sleep wherever you like. No forced game mode, no invisible wall, and no teleport you did not ask for.

A balloon you fuel and light

Coal turns into embers. The tank holds 100 and the climb costs 60. Light the burner with flint and steel from two steps back, because the flare burns for three seconds. Then it really climbs. If you run short, it sinks gently back to the ground.

Powers come from altars

Each kingdom has one altar and it teaches one power, free, as a reward for exploring. Touch it again and it refills your energy.

Royal chests behind trapped rooms

Slabs over lava, walls that close, a ceiling that falls, lasers that take turns. The purple and gold chest at the end opens for whoever learned the kingdom's power. Dig around the trap if you like. You still need the altar.

Trials you can walk out of

Touch the brazier and three waves come. Step out of the ring and the trial stops for you. Winning earns the kingdom's seal. The throne asks for all four, and for the blessing of the wind.

A kingdom 180 blocks up

Five islands joined on foot, with a railing on every bridge and a leafy rim around every lawn. If you jump anyway, the clouds carry you down slowly. A bell on the pier calls the balloon when it is at the other end.

The Bastion and five kingdoms

Each of them is a stop of the flight. Pick one and the balloon takes you there.

The Mage Kings in numbers

  • 23 places built, from the Snow Bastion to the Lantern of the Winds
  • 5 kingdoms, four at the corners of the map and one in the sky
  • 180 blocks from the balloon platform to the sky pier, climbed in one minute
  • 91 items to find, win or craft, including ten armor sets

Along the way

A few things you would come across if you walked around.

A spellbook with a compass

Choose a place and an arrow on screen points the way. You always walk there yourself. The same book keeps track of your quests and hands back any magic item you lost.

Five powers

Lava projectile, water surge, healing, levitation and wind breath. Hold the kingdom's magic object and use it. Powers spend blue energy, which refills by itself.

Ten armor sets

Wear four pieces of one set and it does something. One set lets you breathe underwater, another lets you see in the dark, a third slows the monsters around you. Five sets come from the royal chests. The other five are hidden, one in each kingdom.

A trebuchet you aim by looking

Touch its control, look out over the rampart at a spot on the ground, and sneak to release. One cobblestone per shot, five seconds to reload. Siege machines hurt monsters and leave the scenery alone.

Monsters with habits

Some sprint. Some climb walls to reach you. One wears a crown and hurries the others along. The last wave of every trial brings him, and a knight of the kingdom with him.

Gentle rules

Easy difficulty. You keep your inventory when you die. Monsters cannot damage the castles, and fire does not spread, or the lava would burn the forests down.

Two languages, no experiments

Every message in the game exists in English and in French. The add-on uses the stable scripting API only, with no experimental features switched on.
